DAKOTA/LAKOTA BROTHERS AND SISTERS
STANDING ROCK RESISTANCE CAMPS
UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
PRESENT:
With the permission of those who came before the universe. With the permission of our Mother Earth. We send greetings to the indigenous struggle in Standing Rock, North Dakota which opposes the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline. We are in agreement that this is a crucial moment in the movement for climate justice. The people signing this letter are P’urhepechas, members of an indigenous nation that survived the European attack at the hands of Spanish colonialism; we know of the injustices and as indigenous people, we are conscious that this is a struggle against an oppressive system of which we are all targets. We have determined that we should form an alliance of struggles because we know that by joining forces we will not only strengthen our resistance but we will win these battles. This is the message left to us by our grandfathers; this is why a delegation of P’urhepechas who currently live in the United States and are aware of this struggle will be visitng the reistance camps at Standing Rock to deliver our message of solidarity in the name of everyone who has signed this letter. May they bring our message of hope and strength to your leaders, to your women and children, to your elders and to Mother Earth herself whom we live to defend. Please accept our proposed cultural alliance and our alliance of struggle and receive our offerings.
Thank you.
¡¡¡JUCHARI UINAPIKUA, JUCHARI UINAPIKUA, JUCHARI UINAPIKUA!!!
